Forest Tree Diseases

Forest Tree Diseases

Forest Tree Diseases: Just like people, trees sometimes get diseases that can shorten or even end their lives. While some tree diseases have few practical solutions, others can be addressed if caught early enough. Join Dr. Ellen Crocker to learn more about some common tree diseases and resources for you if you have a tree is in trouble. Present: Dr. Ellen Crocker, Assistant Professor for Forest Health at the University of Kentucky Forestry and Natural Resources Extension.

Tree Identification

Tree Identification

Trees! They are with us four seasons of the year. Many of Kentucky’s nearly 120 important species can be found in our local landscapes as natural stands, as well as street and yard trees. Each has a name; each has its own characteristics that make them the individuals they are. This discussion will be led by Doug McClaren, retired Forester from UK Forestry Extension, and will provide insight into how to identify some of Kentucky’s common native trees. This program is intended for Seniors, aged 60 and old, but they do not have to be current members of the Lexington Senior Center.
