Join Lissa Sims for a free, all-levels practice on the lawn under the trees. Whether this is your first yoga practice or your thousandth, this is a great opportunity to be with your people in a beautiful environment with many people who love yoga and want to share it. Invite your people, share this and/or bring a friend.
If you haven’t practiced yoga outside with a group before you are going to be blown away by 1. how much fun you have and 2. how GOOD you feel. It’s nice to practice with your community, it feels good to move in a natural way and study after study shows that being outside reduces stress and improves your sense of well-being. So of course you feel good!
NO registration is needed–just show up to slow down, breath deeply and feel.
EVERYONE is welcome!
Most people bring mats but a big towel works too.
“When you go out into the woods, and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever. And you look at the tree and you allow it. You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don’t get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree. The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying ‘You are too this, or I’m too this.’ That judgment mind comes in. And so I practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are.”

A native-plant landscape has flourished at St. Michael’s for over 25 years. It includes a truly astonishing variety of trees: old trees and young trees, large trees and small trees, planted trees and volunteers. During a leisurely one-hour walk we will explore their habits, discuss their suitability for urban spaces, and admire their beauty.
